Wadi Degla celebrates the opening of New Cairo branch

Following the success of our first club, Wadi Degla Investment Company celebrated the opening of the second branch of Wadi Degla Sporting Club in New Cairo last January.  Conveniently located in the growing city of New Cairo, the club spreads over a total land area of approx. 31 feddans and offers the following amenities:

4 Soccer pitches, 4 pools, 10 Tennis clay courts, 10 air-conditioned Squash courts, 2 Basketball courts, 16 Multipurpose Halls, Aerobics and Ballet Hall, Sauna & Steam Rooms, 2 state-of-the-art Gymnasiums, Jogging Track, Billiards Hall, Archery Pitch, Croquet Field and Laser Shooting.  A Children’s Garden, restaurants, cafés and retail shops are also available.

Similar academies as per the Maadi branch operate in the new club.

Wadi Degla buys the Belgian Football Club Lierse

The deal was accomplished through buying the total shares and assets of the Belgian club. The company announced the news during a press conference attended by many Egyptian, Arab and Belgian journalists and chaired by Eng. Maged Samy who explained the  action plan of Wadi Degla Investment Company and Wadi Degla Football Company.  He also clarified that the company plans to construct two international stadiums with the capacity of 40,000 spectators each, to be built according to the latest international standards; one in Egypt and the other one in Belgium. They are expected to be completed and inaugurated by 2011.

By such acquisition, the company has accomplished all required factors for the execution of its giant project that includes the construction of four vocational academies dedicated to care for and to raise the talents in Belgium, Ghana and Bella Russia, in addition to the JMG Academy, inaugurated six months ago, as well as two football clubs; one in Egypt and the other in Belgium.

Lierse club is located at Lierse City, one of Antwerp’s counties. It is one of the most well established Belgian clubs and dates back to more than 100 years; it won many championships, the most recent being the Belgian League in 1997. Bernardo Vorhof, the first striker of the Belgian national team, is one of the most well known players among the Belgian Lierse club.

Zidane Visits Wadi Degla!

In an unprecedented historical visit that may not be repeated in any Egyptian club, regardless of his history or standard, Wadi Degla Sporting Club hosted the world football star Zein El Din Zidane in a historical day for Wadi Degla club. Zidane is one of the best players ever worldwide. He has a great history with the French team and the well established European clubs. He was nominated best footballer worldwide twice: in 1998 and 2000. He came to the club early November to participate in the world football contest organized by the French milk company DANONE, and Wadi Degla was selected to be the venue for such significant event.

Excellent organization of the Arab Games’ Archery competition!

Within the framework of the 11th Arab Games hosted in Egypt, Wadi Degla Sporting Club organized the Archery competition during the period from 11 to 15 of November. The participating delegations were from six Arab countries (Egypt, Qatar, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Algeria), with 21 men and 13 ladies. The delegations were accommodated at the Club’s camp and practiced at the Middle-East Bow and Arrow Olympic center at the Club.
