The Story of American Football in Egypt began in 2007 when Ahmad El Refaey, an Egyptian who played American Football in the United States of America, returned to his home country to pass on his passion for this great sport to the enthusiastic youth of Egypt.

He Joined Forces with Adam El Zoghby, the Ahly Club former Handball team captain and Ramy Salah, a brilliant young musician with a true passion for American Football.

That year Gridiron Egypt was established with a sole mission; Establish American Football as on of the most popular sports in Egypt.

By Early 2010, Gridiron Egypt boasted 200 registered players and a huge fan base for the sport. After a succession of numerous successful events and games, the passion, which was the driving force behind Gridiron Egypt, met its vision.

In June 2010, Gridiron Egypt was invited to become an integral sport at Wadi Degla Sports Clubs. Seizing the opportunity to further establish the sport in the country as one of the most prominent sports, and work with expert sports developer Engineer Omar ElBorolossy through his company EngiSports, Wadi Degla American Football Program was created.

The Wadi Degla American Football Academy is the First American Football Academy in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.





Academy System:


The Academy Caters to young Men ages


Description
  • 10- 14 (Youth)
  • 14 – 18 (Juniors)  
  • 18 (Adults)

Academy has levels, with each level at least one month (12 sessions)


  • Level 1: Fitness and Strength
  • Level 2: Basic Football Skills
  • Level 3: Advanced football Skills
  • Level 4: Basic Strategic and Tactical Skills
  • Level 5: Advanced Tactical Skills
  • Level 6: Elite Athletic Development
Academy Fees are : 200 LE per Level with exception of Level 6

Practice Schedule:


  • New Cairo Academy : Monday / Tuesday/ Wednesday
  • 6th of October Academy : Monday /Tuesday / Wednesday
  • All practices start at 8:00 and players must be present by 7:30
  • The Academy employs cutting edge training and safety technologies.

Mission


The Brain Child of the Founders of Gridiron Egypt, Ahmad El Refaey and Adam El Zoghby, and in collaboration with former Squash World Champion, Engineer Omar ElBorollosy.

The Wadi Degla American Football Academy aims to introduce the sport of American Football to the Egyptian Society, and to establish it as one of the most prominent Sports in Egypt.
